At ESHC, we perform an impressive volume of surgeries and procedures, with an average of 1,800 surgical cases and 2,700 endoscopy procedures each year. Our team is composed of highly skilled professionals, including Registered Practical Nurses, Registered Nurses, Registered Nurse First Assistants, Physician Surgical Assistants, Anesthetists, General Surgeons, Obstetricians/Gynecologists (OBGYN), Endoscopists, and visiting specialties.


Surgical Services:

Our General Surgery Program is at the forefront of surgical innovation, providing a wide range of traditional and minimally invasive laparoscopic procedures. Our expertise covers various areas, including:

  • Hernia Repairs
  • Appendix Surgeries
  • Gall Bladder Surgeries
  • Melanoma, Breast, and Colon Cancer Surgeries
  • Diagnostic and Screening Endoscopic Procedures, such as Colonoscopies 

 

Obstetrics/Gynecological Program 

The Obstetrics/Gynecological Program offers exceptional care in both general and minimally invasive laparoscopic procedures. Our specialized services include:

  • Tubal Ligations
  • Caesarean Sections
  • Endometrial Ablation
  • Diagnostic and Operative Laparoscopies
  • Hysterectomies, including Laparoscopic-assisted Vaginal Hysterectomies 

Supporting our comprehensive surgical programs, our skilled General Surgeons and OBGYNs are available round the clock to assist our 24-hour Emergency Department.

For orthopedic needs, our Orthopedic Program delivers top-notch surgical solutions, including:

  • Rotator Cuff Repairs
  • Carpal Tunnel Release
  • Arthroscopy
  • Hammer Toe Correction
  • Hardware Removal 

We are proud to host visiting surgical services as well, such as Dental Surgery and Plastic Surgery, further expanding our capabilities.


Clinic Services 

Preparing for your surgery or procedure is an essential step. Our clinics ensure you receive personalized care and attention.

 

Pre-Surgical Screen (PSS): The PSS is a vital part of your journey, and we conduct a thorough review to prepare you adequately. During this 15-30 minute appointment, our knowledgeable nurses will:

  • Review your health history and medications
  • Provide detailed information about your upcoming surgery and address any concerns you may have 

To make the most of your PSS appointment, remember to bring:

  • A list of all medications you are currently taking
  • Your allergy list
  • Any documents provided by your Surgeon
  • Ontario Health Card and Health Insurance information (if applicable)

Pre-Anesthetic Clinic: Sometimes, a consultation with an Anesthetist is necessary before surgery. If recommended by your Surgeon or determined during the Pre-Surgical Screen, you may be referred to our Pre-Anesthetic Clinic. During this visit, you can expect the following:

  • A comprehensive review of your health history and medications by our skilled Anesthetists
  • Possible blood work or heart readings (EKG) to ensure your safety

To ensure a smooth appointment, please bring the following:

  • A list of all medications you are currently taking
  • Your allergy list
  • Ontario Health Card and Health Insurance information
  • Any documents provided by your Surgeon
  • Wear comfortable clothing that can be easily changed if required for testing.

General Surgical Clinics (GSC): Our General Surgical Clinics, conveniently located on the 1st floor, offer outpatient care and minor surgical procedures. Our skilled medical professionals provide specialized treatments, including:

  • Vasectomy
  • Cyst Removal
  • Lipoma Removal
  • Skin Tag Removal
  • Treatment for Ingrown Toenails
