Physiotherapist

Applications are now being accepted for two Part-Time Physiotherapists. The successful applicants will be required to work 0700-1500 Monday to Sunday, including holidays. The commitment for part time is 37.5 hours per bi-weekly pay period. Unscheduled part-time employees may be required to work up to 1 day per month. Reporting to the Operations Manager, Medical Surgical, Rehab & Allied Health, the Physiotherapist will, in conjunction with the patient: assess, plan treatment, set goals, treat and educate patient and family in matters related to physiotherapy.

Job Functions

  • Adhere to policies and procedures established for the assigned department while supporting the Mission, Vision and Values of Erie Shores Healthcare
  • Demonstrates an understanding of the Regulated Health Professions Act 1991 (RHPA), and its requirements
  • Maintain the confidentiality of all patient information
  • Receive physician/nurse practitioner referral for inpatients and or patients in Emergency Department
  • Independently assess, plan treatment, set goals, treat, and educate patient and family in matters related to physiotherapy
  • Participate in discharge planning
  • Attend multidisciplinary meetings
  • Maintain clinical and statistical records
  • Handle individual caseload of patients on unit
  • Ensure skills are current through continuing education
  • Participate in the orientation of new employees
  • Perform any other relevant duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Bachelor Degree or equivalent in Physiotherapy from an accredited School of Rehabilitation required
  • Registration with the College of Physiotherapists of Ontario required
  • 2 years recent clinical experience in rehabilitation preferred
  • Proficient knowledge of Physiotherapy scope of practice with demonstrated clinical judgment, critical thinking and ability to utilize a holistic approach
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Excellent organizational skills with ability to manage clinical caseload demands
  • Strong leadership qualities
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with a wide variety of stake-holder groups including clients, families, teams, leadership and others within the circle of care
  • Knowledge and demonstrated skills in safe lifting and transfer techniques to assist with client transfers
  • General good health and a level of fitness appropriate for the demands of the position, ex. ability to lift, carry and tolerate prolonged periods of walking and standing
